I like the Erikson's theory of eight stages of life in order to understand and apply for the Growth and development stages of Long term care residents. Erikson's theory discussed about the psychosocial development throughout the lifespan, not just childhood and adolescence. According to Erikson's theory of eight stages of life, my resident is in the eighth and final stage called Integrity versus Despair (Potter et al., 2014.p.318). This stage occurs during late adulthood from age 65 through the end of life. During this timeframe individuals reflect back the life they have lived and leave away with either a feeling of satisfaction or a feeling of disappointment (Potter et al., 2014.p.317).
