There are many definitions for natural law. But the one that I found that was the most committed was the one from the one from the Encyclopedia Britannica “in philosophy, a system of right or justice held to be common to all humans and derived from nature rather than from the rules of society or positive law”.Right now, we have decide whether Creon is guilty, or innocent of breaking natural law. I think that Creon is guilty of breaking natural law for two reasons. To begin with, Creon was being sexist when he said “you give in to a woman” to Haemon when Creon wasn’t having things his way. our second reason was the fact that Creon didn’t give Polyneices a proper burial.

Let’s begin with our first reason. Our first reason was chosen because he made a sexist statement that said “You give in to a woman”. That statement might not seem harsh at all, but if you think about it. He was basically generalizing all women. He thinks that all women are weak and powerless. One quote that really stood up to me was “Strengthen the female mind by enlarging it, and there will be an end to blind obedience”. Out of the two reasons, this is the main one. I thought that he broke natural law from doing this because everybody deserves a proper burial, in my opinion. Creon did not give a proper burial to Polyneices because of a throne that was supposed to be his. So the real traitor is King Creon. Some of Baron de Montesquieu’s beliefs can help people prove that he is guilty of breaking natural law for that reason.
