Changes occur everywhere in the world; every minute, every second. Changes can bring fear, doubt, and isolation. When i was young, I used to like changes. Changes were something to look forward to; it was fun to meet new people, see new places, and even learn new things. At the age of 9, my parents told me that we were moving to America. I paid little to their words and thought it would be a fun trip, but little did i know that this was going to completely change after my perception of these changes.

The very first issue that I encountered after moving to America was communication, which includes reading, writing, and speaking. In India, schools are not required to teach English, meaning that I had little to no knowledge of the language before

This caused many problems for me. I was unable to learn properly in school, and even at home the only person i could talk to was my sister, who was learning English herself. At this point, I hated America and wanted to go back home, I did not know anyone, could not do anything or have a conversation with others. I had a hard time making friends in school and out because i was not fluent enough. I also had a hard time making people understand what i was saying because my thick accent made it hard for them to understand me. Because I had a hard time understanding the teachers, my grades were really bad. The school decided to enroll me in ESL, or English as a Second Language courses. There I made some friends who were also having a hard time understanding english just like me. We helped each other out and taught each other what we knew. They also had an affect on my school grades. They would always push me to do better than what i could do. Through their motivation, I started to do better in classes and my grades started to improve. This experience changed me for the better because it made me realize the importance of friendship, and how being kind to someone helps them through the toughest of
