“One of the most crazy things in life, is that when you come to realize that the only thing that can save you is yourself.” - Demi Lovato In life, there are different things that can happen to you in which you will struggle to be successful. Many things will test you and whether you can survive. This happened to Pi in “The Life of Pi” in which he was stranded alone on a lifeboat in the middle of the ocean, trapped with 3 wild animals, and he was struggling to survive. The same occurred for Keesh in “The Story of Keesh” when he realized he was in danger of starving with his townspeople. The stories “Life of Pi” and “Story of Keesh”, are very similar to each other, and also a bit different at the same time. In both stories, survival is a theme that presents itself on numerous occasions. Keesh and Pi had to survive through different challenges throughout both of their respective stories. An example of this is the fact that food is hard to get in both stories. This is shown when Keesh and his mother have old and tough bones plus the fact that there is a current famine in Keesh’s village. This is supported when the story states “But it is ofttimes old and tough, this meat, and, moreover, it has an unusual quantity of bones.”(page 62) It is …show more content…
Pi’s thoughts are supported when he states: “because if he[Richard Parker] died I would be left alone with despair, a foe even more formidable than a tiger.”(page 84) This means that he was happy because there was a tiger with him, which sounds a little insane, however, it helped him survive. Another thing which differs from the two stories is the fact that Keesh is alone when he goes out and hunts and is for, a majority of the time, with people, but Pi, was with other people until his boat sank, and now spent a majority of his time
