Through dystopian literature, the author utilizes characters, settings, and dialogue to convey the importance of ethical lessons. In the texts “The Veldt” and “There Will Come Soft Rains” by Ray Bradbury, the narrator conveys how self-reliance on technology can lead to the loss of balance between artificial intelligence and nature unless one is willing to set limits for themselves. Furthermore, in “There Will Come Soft Rains” by Ray Bradbury, even as ‘“the dog frothed at the mouth, lying at the door, sniffing”, the artificial house failed to realize the dog’s feeling of desperation in a life-deprived society, as the only sorrow in the house following the animal’s death was the one brought by “the regiments of mice [who] hummed out as softly as blown gray leaves in an electrical wind”’(Bradbury 2). Following the disappearance of humans, the family dog sat lonely awaiting death, and due to its lack of emotion, the technologies in the artificial house failed to provide the dog with any sense of comfort even in its last moments. By including the death of a helpless pet in the story, the author conveys the emotionless nature of artificial
