Is the U.S. imperialistic? Well, imperialism by its dictionary definition is, “the policy of extending the rule or authority of an empire or nation over foreign countries, or of acquiring and holding colonies and dependencies.” It pretty simple, NO, the U.S. is not imperialistic, it is just that the global culture tends to be largely influenced by the U.S. In the U.S. we are stage 4 country; that means that we are very developed. Our country is home to some of the most successful businesses in the world. This in turn makes us one of the most powerful and richest countries in the world, with great power comes great responsibility though. The U.S. in no way is ruling over countries or forcing them to do anything. In many cases a country may be having a problem like a war, terrorism or other problems out of the foreign countries control. This is the only time that the U.S. steps in. Many times the only reason we fight for other countries is because the threat could become a global threat that could affect us at home. This describes the influence that America has on many foreign countries around the world. Cultures from the U.S. affect other countries food, media, technology, business, and politics. Many times the cultures from the U.S. are not taken exactly like they are in the hearth. They are adapted to fit the cultures of all the foreign countries. The best example of this is McDonalds.
