In Canada, the amount different people and the diverse culture is astounding in comparison to other countries. There are many people that reside in Canada such as Aboriginal, Chinese, French and more. Due to the diverse amount of different races that live in Canada, our country is probably one of the most multicultural nation in the world. However, due the factor of so many different people, there is bound to be friction between cultures. There exist needless friction between the visible minority and Caucasian Canadians in the form of stereotypes and racism. Furthermore, this not only exists in everyday life between adults but also exists in kindergarten to post-secondary schools. There exists a spectrum that describes how an organization becomes antiracist in six stages: exclusive, passive, symbolic change, analytic change, structural change, and inclusive. I believe that Canada in this spectrum is in the analytic change stage where we are aiming to eliminate discriminatory practices and inherent advantage by becoming more antiracist. In Canada, due to the needless friction between the visible minority and everyone else, the government have taken actions to prevent such issues from happening in the future. I believe that the government have added and increased the amount of materials that are related to eliminating discriminatory practices and inherent advantages in our curriculum. I find that these practices not only applies to post-secondary schools but applies to all types of schools including preschool, kindergarten, elementary and secondary schools in Canada. In my experience, the courses I have been though in kindergarten to post-secondary schools have practiced and implemented these antiracist ideas over and over again until it is engraved into our brains.
