America is more than just the government and officials, it is also the people that live there. There is more to being a citizen of America than just working and other duties. Things like voting, obeying laws, knowing what's too far and when to stop are other subjects of what you can know by learning more about our government and country. By knowing more about our government will help voters pick the better president to lead our country and represent us in other places and make big decisions that will affect all of us. Another perk of knowing about our government is it lets people know what our freedoms are and maybe express some of those a little more out in public and being a better and bigger part of our government. It gives people more of an idea of what they would maybe want to do in jobs, for example, going into justice or other professions that work for the government. The reason ways and the culture of america has changed so much is because of citizens in the past arguing and expressing their freedoms to see if they can get some things changed by the government that is wrong or possibly change their lives for the better. Knowing about the past can also fuel the American spirit and help persuade people to want to fight for their country increasing in military power and adding on to the defense of America. All of these can help all American and possibly even future Americans make their life what they want or at least the chance to change what they want. It can also help foreigners understand why we shoot fireworks on the Fourth of July, or why we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
