The backdrop comes down, the lights come up, and the music starts. My mind goes blank, suddenly I feel like I have forgotten everything. I am hot, nervous, but could not be more enthusiastic, all because this is the moment I have waited two years for. In the summer of 2015, I was in my very first community theatre show in the production of Mary Poppins. I had never done a big show like this before and honestly, did not think I would enjoy it. I have never been so thrilled that I pushed aside my previous thoughts and tried something new because I was instantly enthralled with theatre. It was then that I knew I wanted to do this every summer. A year rolls by and I am in Damn Yankees, another show of large production. In both of these shows I was in the chorus, which was enjoyable, but I wanted the opportunity to have a larger role. I wanted to be a featured dancer, they have more scenes, songs, and dances. This was the first time I really felt the pressure weighing me down at auditions, I had wanted to audition for this role for so long. The show was Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory, so I knew that if I were a featured dancer, I would enjoy myself and get the chance to play many characters. When it came to the audition, I was filled with nerves, I knew I had to nail the dance part to achieve my goal.
