It has been discovered that discrepancies arise across several dimensions such as socio-economic status, sexual orientation, race and ethnicity, and gender (Bonilla-Silva, p54). Disparities at the workplace in America have been a long-lasting challenge causing some minority groups such as African American receives poor treatment at the occupational place than others and facing poorer productivity consequences. Even though African American population in U.S shares similar rights as the rest of the citizen, arguably, African American prejudice issues at the workplace are of greater stressors due to prejudice racism and economic disparities. Discrimination occurs once an employer treats one or some employees less favorably than others. At a workplace, most of the prejudice that people fears is based on ethnicity or race, gender, sex, and age.

Studies show that societies give men the first priorities in leadership positions, decision making, and power. Women are perceived as weak beings who are supposed to be at home taking care of the family and doing domestic chores. Women are only assumed to be dependent and not independent. In occupational place, despite having all qualifications of having a high-rank position such as being a manager, most women are disqualified because of their gender. These uneven sex responsibilities mean that women and men are anticipated to behave differently in several situations. Men are anticipated to be the steering headship of situations, and they are not expected to be emotional. All these affect our young people as they lose hope of studying hard for better positions, they become hopeless and end up harming themselves by indulging into other activities such as prostitution and suicide and drug use. Others become depressed especially the marginalized minorities due to their poverty status that remain
