Their claim suggests that people base their decisions on what they believe in without any input from fear. Giles Corey and John Proctor are two of the many characters that stick to their beliefs, despite their fear of death, and end up abiding to their morals until their demise. While this may be true, Giles Corey and John Proctor’s actions were affected by the fears they had if they continued to live. Corey and Proctor were more afraid of living with the guilt of selling out their friends than of death. The two men went with what they feared least and allowed themselves to be slain.
