People across the world are deprived of daily necessities, many of which live in the cities with no place to call home. Imagine a teenager girl deprived of food, huddling in the freezing snow seeking to protect her three children from the harsh elements after being brutally abandoned by her drug addicted husband. This situation may be hypothetical, however similar events happen across the globe as people fight for survival daily. Homelessness is a major problem in America that needs addressed and several solutions are available to help improve the situation.

People become homeless, starting a pattern hard for children to overcome the situation they are born into, causing a family line of homelessness. The increase of homeless people after the Great Depression caused a povery line hard to get out of. One example of homelessness of people is in Hoovervilles. According to the chart the cost would be near 20 billion dollars. This cost may seem overwhelming and unachievable to a single person; however, if the people of the United States work together they could obtain this amount of money and work to end homelessness. Americans altogether spend more than this on Christmas decorations and flowers over the course of the five years in which this topic was studied. People are selfish and often do not want to give up their time and money to help others.
