eptember 11th, 2001, was a dreadful day that changed America forever. It was a day which wasn’t expected, and the day know wants America to experience again. Even though the terrorist attacks took place at the twin towers in New York, our whole country grieved in pain. September 11 has been considered evil for some, and conspiracy for others. Regardless, September 11th has neither been forgotten, nor it will be forgotten, as 9/11 changed many things in American history, which still affect America today.

The War on Terrorism was basically a movement launched by President Bush to avenge the act of terrorism which took place in America and nearly destroyed the whole country. In the War on Terror, Bush sent American troops to Afghanistan to capture Osama Bin Laden.” American forces in Afghanistan rounded up several hundred people suspected of connections to the Taliban and Al Qaeda in the aftermath of fighting and eventually moved these prisoners to a facility at the American base in Guantanamo, Cuba” (Brinkley 907). Some of the people who were caught and sent to Guantanamo either committed suicide or died due to other reasons. Though many of the leaders of the Taliban regime fled, many of the other members were caught. This war greatly affected America, as we lost many soldiers and lots of money on the war. Last year, in 2016, it was said that the detainee count at the Guantanamo prison had gone down to 91. Also, half of those prisoners were still facing criminal charges. There are still soldiers in Afghanistan, who are making sure that there is no other terroristic movement that occurs in America. “History has taught us over and over again that freedom is not free. “When push comes to shove, the ultimate protectors of freedom and liberty are the brave men and women in our armed forces.
