When people think of the President of the United States; normally the word assassination doesn’t come to their mind first. JFK, formally known as John F. Kennedy was the thirty-fifth president and was assassinated November 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas at the age of 46. Many thought that he was a good president for the short time he served; but unfortunately assassinations ran in his family.
I interviewed my grandmother ,Claudia Colarullo, about this topic and it was obvious it was a touchy one. I asked her one question “what was your reaction when you heard about this event” and her only word was disbelief. She couldn’t believe it was true . My grandmother recalls that he was in a convertible type car and was waving to everyone on the streets the whole way. They were driving and were only a couple miles from where they left. Around twelve O’clock CST John F. Kennedy was shot. A bullet in the back and one in the head. Connally was wounded as well. JFK was pronounced dead at one o’clock central standard time. Unlike others he wanted to be apart of things. What I mean when I say he emphasized public service is he wanted the citizens of the United States to give back to the country rather than depending on the government. “Ask not what your country can do for you...ask what you can do for your country” is a quote my grandma quoted from JFK. I truly believe that his message was for us not to depend on our government all the time. You can only make things happen yourself so ask what you can do to help your
