In the United States, turning 18 makes any person officially an adult, legally allowing him/her to fight for one’s country and vote; therefore lowering the drinking age to 18 makes sense. First, lowering the drinking age could reduce under aged alcohol abuse. Secondly, we can provide a safer drinking environment if the age is lowered. Lastly, in the European countries the drinking age is under twenty-one.
First, lowering the drinking age could reduce under aged alcohol abuse. Teenagers these days do not know the difference between abstaining, moderation, and abuse. Parents and school teachers should be teaching them about it. Abstaining is when kids chose not to drink at all. Whereas moderation is when one drinks responsibly. As appose to abuse, where they are consistently drinking and have almost reached alcohol poisoning. In school, while they are teaching sex education and the importance of having safe sex they should also be teaching the importance of safe drinking. Over at the European countries there a few countries that allows kids to have a glass of wine with dinner such as France, Spain, and Portugal. The reason they do this is so that parents can help them drink moderate so they do not overdo it. For minors (21 and younger) to drink underage in United States is much frowned upon, but if you were to go to some European countries, they would allow you to drink underage. In the United States turning twenty-one is a big deal we get to go to all bars and the clubs, but in the European countries it different. If you were to live in the European countries turning, sixteen or even eighteen is not that big of a deal. It is not a big deal because teens have been drinking with their parent while we have just been binge
