America should lower the drinking age to 18 years old. Changing the age would make the United States fair, and reasonable. America’s legal adulthood age is 18, other countries legal drinking age is 18, and lowering the age can lower dangerous drinking activities. Lowering the drinking age from 21 to 18. Legally, in America a boy or girl becomes an adult at the age of 18. When they turn 18, many rules and restrictions change such as being allowed to vote. Most punishments with the law change. New adults can be tried as an adult instead of a minor, they can sue someone, and they may have to attend jury duty. They have the choice to do what they want such as moving out or make huge purchases like they can buy cars, houses, land, and can purchase certain firearms. New adulthood men have to sign up for the draft. They can go to war and die for this country but they legally can’t share a beer with their father or friends. Why is that fair. Most young adults 18 and up will drink anyway or have friends old enough to get, but if they’re caught they will be arrested and go to jail and receive charges. Most alcohol arrests are from underage drinking. Lowering the drinking age would also work well with the economy. More young adults that go out with friends for casual fun nights would spend some money to drink. Drinking in moderation is an accepted, social, fun activity. Other pleasurable activities are permitted at age 18, why isn’t drinking.
