Medical identification tag (MITG) is a symbol or an emblem worn by individuals suffering from a hidden medical condition that could threaten their lives and should be known in emergency. The purpose of wearing the symbol (tag) is to alert healthcare workers, colleagues or random strangers at the time of emergency about medical conditions requiring immediate medical intervention; thus it is time saving and lifesaving.1 Dr. Marion C. Collins was the founder of the medical identification emblem and he used if for his daughter with multiple allergies.2 The symbol usually shows engraved information about the patient, like the patient’s name, age,a blood group, allergies, disease, specific medication, treating doctor, hospital and relevant contact details. The symbol may be in the form of bracelet, necklace, and tattoo on the skin.
