Who did colonialism affect the most? Colonists or the Native Americans? The colonists arrived to the Cape Cod, Massachusetts also known as the “new world” November 9, 1620. There, the colonists met the Native Americans. In order to keep peace, natives and colonists created a treaty.But the treaty was broken and later the Native Americans were damaged in many ways, such as becoming afflicted with diseases, losing their land, and losing their culture are ways in which colonialism affected the lives of the Native Americans.
Colonialism affected the lives of the Native Americans because they were infected with diseases brought by the New England Colonists. In Why Thanksgiving is a National Day of Mourning for some Americans by Sam Levine it states,

In the video of We Shall Remain: After the Mayflower by PBS it talks about how in order to survive the “Native Americans needed to play the role of the Colonists”. The Colonists would kill the Native Americans that did not follow their culture and beliefs. And a few things they needed to change included cutting their hair, changing the way they dressed, in between many other things. Natives had to cut their hair off was one of the biggest damages towards them because Native Americans really valued their hair. Their hair was only supposed to be cut when they were mourning the loss of a loved one. They also had to change the way they dressed. Changing the way they dressed also hurt them because their clothes had lots of value. Their clothes was made from things from their sacred land and they really treasured that, they saw it as a gift from their god.
Ways in which Native Americans were affected by colonialism were, Becoming afflicted with diseases, losing their land, and losing their culture. An increasing population, less land, and inheriting Colonists ways. Native Americans were completely ruined because of the Colonists. If the Colonists would have never gotten to the new world, what would the world be like now? Most likely there would still be many Native Americans living and their part in history would not be so
