Throughout history there has been multiple times where the media has ignored the good news just to focus on the bad. Even today the media still focuses on the negative parts of the world just to get more attention from the readers. The public seems to also respond to this more and in turn bring more attention to the issue. The media have been doing this since the beginning of newspapers. Today the media is spread through twitter and Facebook and of course, Television. The media concentrates on the negative so much because it hooks onto the reader’s attention. They don’t show the rest of the story they just focus on the fact that a white officer shot a black man. They don’t show when the white police officer saves the life of a black man. They also don’t show when a black officer shoots a white man. The more the media focuses on the “racism” of what police officers are doing the more they are covering up other stories, such as Dylan Noble. “Somehow, the shooting of an unarmed white man by police isn’t drawing any attention from the mainstream media. Unlike the shootings of Philando Castile and Alton Sterling, which have created yet another firestorm complete with accusations of police racism, the media is ignoring the death of Dylan Noble, a 19-year-old white man, on June 25” (Berrien). The police are affected by the media by them only concentrating on the negative news about what they have done. Dylan was treated just like any other suspect. He ran from the police so they chased him and then the man said he didn’t want to live anymore, then at that moment he reached to his waistline and the police thought that the man was reaching for a gun.
