What would it take to stop the legalization of recreational marijuana? State’s should consider what the influence of legalizing marijuana will have and properly research the positive and negative effects that it would bring to their state. The legalization will directly affect the state’s economy, safety of citizens, and stability of a family’s foundation. My thesis is mainly going to focus on the negative impact that legalizing of marijuana has had on the state of Colorado and could have similar impacts on other states.
Before legalizing recreational marijuana there are potential impacts that should be taken into account. States should consider how this law could potentially increase crimes and has increased the number of arrest for driving under the influence of drugs (DUID), which puts the safety of our citizens at risk. Marijuana is a drug that acts similar to an individual under the influence of alcohol, in which, if ingested too much it would inhibit your ability to operate a motor vehicle safely.
