The Salem Witch Trials had a negative effect on the society. It has caused people in modern time to have trust issues & superstition. Not only has it had a negative effect on society , but some may think it also had a positive effect.

I do think religion and superstition tie hand and hand together. Diversity in religion has caused many superstitions that are still here. In Salem , Massachusetts superstition played a huge part in the Witch Trials. You could act , look , talk or just do anything that was weird or unknown to people and people would begin to get suspicious. If you were a farmer and your crops were growing healthy but your neighbors crops were dying, your neighbor would get suspicious and accuse you of putting a curse on their land. One of the superstitions the puritans believed was “misfortunes were blamed on the supernatural.” ( totallyhistory.2012) We still have superstitions today that have influenced our society in a negative way. People sometimes get paranoid by superstitions and feel as if they have to go by every single one of them or something would happen.
Although , some people may think the Salem Witch Trials just had a negative effect in society , it also has had a positive one.
