One thing they chose to leave out was the fact that Red Pollard has a wife. It also never mentions that Howard had another horse. One major element they left out was the amount of races Seabiscuit ran. In the movie it only showed around 7 races while in reality he ran 89. It also did not show that between the race that he lost to Rosemont and the match race with War Admiral, Seabiscuit competed in 22 races. The movie made it seem as if there were no races in between.
The movie furthers students knowledge by showing what life was like at this time period. It discusses the beginning of the Great Migration. It also shows the prohibition of alcohol and that people would cross the border into Mexico to drink alcohol there was still legal there. It also teaches viewers about what entertainment was like then. People today do not care as much about horse racing, however it was a huge deal at this time.
This movie is interesting and enjoyable to watch. Seabiscuit is a loveable character and everyone watching wants to root for him. It keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next and who will win. It is full of ups and downs, but everything works out in the end.
