For the Students Students in middle school and high schools enter their school day extremely tired and deprived from sleep. Many adolescence dislike getting up at 6:00am just to get ready for school that starts at 7:10am. This is because of their school schedule and their sleep cycle do not have a common ground with each other. During middle school, the students are entering the beginning these changes is the sleep cycle that they experience. Instead of sleeping early and getting like their younger years, their body’s internal clock springs forward about two hours. This means that instead of going to sleep at 9:00pm and waking up at 6:00am, these students stay up later and goes to sleep at 11:00-12:00pm and wake up around 8:00-9:00am. Walking down the main hallway was full of life… because the students are living and breathing. However, it was completely dead if we talked about the energy that was present. The students walking to their next class like “walkers” from the TV series The Walking Dead. Their blank and emotionless faces created an atmosphere that was depressing and somber. The hallway feeling continued into the class as the zombie kids took their seats. While the teacher was lecturing about the 1700s politics, the students tried to catch up on the sleep they lost due to the early start time. All of a sudden, the teacher gave us a 20 question quiz about what we learned last week. Taking about 15 minutes to complete, and turn it in, everyone was upset that they had failed it. The quiz scores the next day proved such a case. The teacher proceeded to yell at us complaining that the only job we, as students, have is to sit, stay quiet and take notes; that is was our fault that we were failing. It was only us to
