Have you ever wondered what drives a person to become a criminal? Soci-paths can be very dangerous, knowing that they are your most charismatic people that you would be the last person you would suspect to be bad, and they don’t really get nervous. Criminals also have a lack of empathy, they can not imagine or feel the world of emotional people. You may think a criminal has the same mind of an average persons and that their actions are just choices, but research has found that some criminal brains have different levels of neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine than normal brains, causing them to act out. There are so many other factors that relate to why a criminal does what they do to.

To prove this statement, “brain scans suggest that drug misuse is linked with reduced brain volume in areas of the cortex that are involved with self-control. Violence, aggression and higher scores on measures of psychopathy, in contrast, were shown to be connected with greater volume in midbrain regions involved with desire, craving, pleasure, and motivation.” (Szalavitz). This clearly explains that by doing brain scans of a criminal’s mind, researchers have found that drug misuse is linked with self-control, and so on, proving that these two factors are creating an impact on their brains. Another fact about the brain involving drugs is that, “drugs are chemicals that affect the brain by tapping into its communication system and interfering with the way neurons normally send, receive, and process information.” (Drugs). The amount of research shown clearly illustrates how much of an impact drugs have on the human brain, having no control over the things you do, which can lead to criminal activity, and a criminal to lash out. Obviously, drugs and violence do in fact have an effect on the mind of a criminal, altering their mind, and pushing them to do what they
