Texas is a giant state that has major tourism and shares a border with Mexico. Mexico is a country full of many positive vibes, but also negative. This has become an issue in Texas because many cartels and drug trafficking take place right across our border. Not only does trafficking come from Mexico, but also from the Texas border into Mexico.
For example, the drugs that are sold in Texas come from Mexico. Abundant supplies of drugs produced in Mexico have taken over the drug markets through the Texas border area (Root).There is seventeen border crossings within the South Texas region, a high amount of these are crossings to smuggle illegal drugs (Root). These drugs are smuggled are in vehicles, commercial tractor trailers, passenger busses, and trains. The border patrol checkpoints are on major transportation routes entering South Texas, Texas is emphasizing on these to seize the amount of drugs passing to Texas.

This is also a big issue for Mexico because a generous amount of these weapons are used by the cartels. Resulting in many deaths of innocent people (Gagne). This issue should be stopped by maintaining a better control of weapons. A new law has passed that anyone can carry weapons publicly and more people have access to them now. Which is more likely the reason why so many guns are crossing on a basis. In conclusion, Texas and Mexico should be sharing this issue and act in smarter ways. A border will not control this. People assume a border will work better to the Texas population, but this just shows how it is not as satisfying as it seems. Drugs and weapons will continue to cross illegally unless acted in a different manner other than just a border
