An Amendment that is the only one to be repealed ever, the 18th Amendment. America took about 40 years to get Prohibition ratified as the 18th Amendment on January 29, 1919. It banned any alcohol products to be sold and drinked in the U.S. Many people were pleased with the Amendment getting ratified. Congress also passed the Volstead Act with it. 14 years later they passed the 21th Amendment on December 5, 1933. to repeal it. Why did they get rid of the 18th Amendment? There are three major reasons on why America wanted to get the Prohibition Act repealed, crime and homicide, law enforcement, and economic reasons.

Crime and murder were a reason why America wanted the 18th Amendment repealed.
The Amendment had created an uproar to the people that loved to drink. It caused numerous amounts of bootleggers and gangs, even the notorious Al Capone was involved. (Document A)
