My first value from the crucible I wrote is human dignity and worth. As a leader, you understand the inherent value of every human life, regardless of background or beliefs. As individuals we learn to respect the differences between your personal beliefs and those of your clients, taking into account ethnic and cultural diversity. There may be times that leaders have to deal with their own biases against a particular population. It can be a struggle, but put aside your feelings for the sake of helping your clients. Integrity is another value. Integrity means acting honestly, responsibly and ethically at all times. Leaders should be trustworthy. Confidentiality should never be betrayed, unless you're required to do so in certain circumstances by law, such as in cases of suicidality. Leaders not only act with integrity, but also promote integrity in their colleagues and other professionals. My crucible was affected in a positive way. This value encouraged me to keep everything confidential. It made me aware of the laws that were set in place dealing with confidential information. My last value from the crucible is authenticity. Authentic leaders draw their inspiration from their own lives. They are always consistent and try to avoid sending mixed messages. They get to know their teammates and their strengths and weaknesses. An authentic leader will offer help when needed. This value affected my crucible in a positive way also. Being authentic you don’t have to pretend to be someone else.
