The Gilded age has gone down in history as one of the greatest moments of economic Growth. During the Civil War, the United States was mainly an agricultural society and during this period it was transformed into a huge industrial community. As the U.S began to become more industrialized, the demand for skilled labor become more and more unnecessary. The labor work required minimal skill in the specific field due to how easy it was to operate some of the new machinery that was coming into the system. This led to a lot of immigrants coming in from different places all over the world to find work in America. Although this opened up a large amount of opportunity for new work, it also caused a lot of harm to those working the new hard labor jobs. The Gilded Age provided the opportunity to work that so many of the immigrants from the African Americans in the south, and the Chinese needed to make a big migrate to the …show more content…
A huge part of why racial equality is still a problem during this time is due to the outcome of the court case of Plessy v. Ferguson. This court case alone sent decades of work towards racial equality back to where they started. This industrial era was still too great for the African American’s to pass up and the huge number of labor jobs led to thousands migrating into the United States to find work. Since most of the work required little skill from the workers, and there were so many new jobs created, it made a great opportunity for African Americans to come in and find work easily. Not only did it create a large amount of job opportunities, but also the chance to break away from the negative atmosphere of the South and create new lives away from those that have harmed them for so long. This was the perfect chance for African Americans to begin and make new lives in the North during the transformation into an industrial
