Fourteen-year-old girl Susie Salmon by played by Saoirse Ronan, is viciously murdered by her neighbor Mr. Harvey played by Stanley Tucci, a deranged predator with a deceptive neighborly persona. As her family begins to heal with the passing of Susie they begin to drift apart while struggling to find out the real truth of her death. Meanwhile, Susie attempts to accept her way in the afterlife. Throughout The Lovely Bones it focused on Susie’s murder, and how it impacted the people she had relationships on back on earth with, and how she saw it in her point of view. A wide variety of different looks, digital props and lighting effects, were used to make Susie’s time in the afterlife. It wonderful portrayed a fourteen year olds idealistic vision of ‘Heaven’, with its wild color and irregular color schemes. The sequence used for her ‘Heaven’ were a mixture of 2D compositing effects, animated matte paintings and 3D projection. That were commonly used during in this time.
