There are many laws and rules in today’s society, which are there to protect everyone. Sometimes these rules are broken and disobeyed, just like in Ayn Rand’s book Anthem. The rules in this book Anthem, are constricting the citizens from creating new inventions and doing anything on their own. For example, these rules are there to keep the citizens from rebelling or disobeying the House of Scholars. These rules exist to keep the citizens in check and to make sure they do not get any new or reckless ideas. Equality’s society will be much different and it will not include these restricting rules.The rules in Anthem constrict the characters from trying new and rebellious things. These rules are there to keep the citizens from disobeying the House of Scholars. Therefore, is no need for security or any type of reinforcements in Anthem, due to everyone obeying the rules. “The locks are old on the doors and there are no guards about,”(Rand 66). In the Palace of Corrective Detention, there is little to no security, which made it so easy for Equality to escape. No one has come forward with a new invention to the World Council of Scholars. “How dared you think your mind held greater than the minds of your brothers,”(Rand 71).
