I choose to write about a TedTalk because it is specifically talking about a reason that relationships do not prosper. We are currently learning about the principles and do's and don’ts of fostering and maintaining healthy relationships with family members, friends, and peers. This video is titled "Why do people cheat?" Presented by Esther Perel. She explains the guidelines of cheating, gives examples of the emotional damage, and provides definition and ranges of cheating.

Esther Perel gives a new insight to the reasons why both women and men cheat. She begins her speech by presenting the perceptions of why both men and women cheat. She states, "Why does society feel as if men cheat due to boredom and women cheat due to loneliness?" Also, "Is an affair the end of it all?" Esther challenges the group to think about this universally accepted act that cannot be combatted. During this Ted Talk the speaker, Esther, attempts to give a percentage of how many people cheat but then expresses the definition of infidelity is not universally defined. The reason being, the term is expanding over time, recently incorporating actions like sexting, watching porn, and registering on dating acts. In the far past leaving your partner for any reason was looked very bad upon. Now, the shame relies in staying with your partner knowing they have cheated on you. If divorce is no longer a negative action, "Why do happy people cheat?" After conducting research and counseling several people, Esther Perel has come to the conclusion that cheating is less about the person and more about desire.
