670,000 children are placed in our government’s child welfare system. My institution has lead me to believe that multitudinous people have ever heard of a foster care; no one is even talking about them. Looking at myself, it is more than unlikely to know that I use to be a foster child. Therefore I have formulated a proposition to educate those unaware on some of the grating conditions adolescents face in and out of foster cares, and encourage the government system to crack down on negligent foster parents. This is an ethical dilemma that needs to be solved simply because it affects everyone. My three younger siblings and I have experienced the system first hand. Some of us are lucky enough to find a forever home that take us in, but others will not be quite as lucky. …show more content…
I would like to see every child have equal opportunity to be successful and placed in loving safe homes. Steps that would be necessary to take to make this happen would include, marches to raise awareness, the increase in more family social worker visiting foster homes. I’ve seen more awareness in Minnesota as this topic has just been highlighted on the news but more new stories like those need to demonstrated throughout the nation. The social worker issue can be solved by opening more social worker jobs so that one social worker doesn’t have so many clients, which decrease the burnout effect. Lastly background checks on all foster parents, to ensure that this is in fact a person who wants to help kids and is a contributing memeber of society. Children in foster cares cannot speak for themselves, it's overwhelming feeling abandoned and left alone.
