The “Blackfish” is an American documentary that follows the life of a Tillikum, a killer whale that was captured back in early 1980s to be trained as a public attraction in Sea World. This documentary explored how killer whales being treated and portrayed how harmful it is to be kept outside their habitat. On top of that there was evidence of mistreating these animals which led to deaths of couple park trainers. The controversy of why these orcas acted violently towards people; this documentary leave us with many philosophical and ethical concerns concerning the life of animals and how they should be treated. It is obvious that animals do not have the ability to be rational, the only problem with this idea is by agreeing to it we also agree that we can do whatever we want to other members of our own, like people who are less smart or people that aren’t capable of being intelligent. We will never treat people with mental disabilities unfairly. People could argue that since humans, climb the top of the ladder they should have the authority to treat others on what they please. Also, this way of life is how it has always been and it not easy to change because people are so accustomed by. Although there are many practice that we change for good, like the culture of slaves and Egyptian pharaohs that use people to build infrastructures long time ago. Humans use animals to fulfil their basic needs to survive. Food, shelter, and clothing are just things that humans are so accustomed to. Using animals for our own sake is like an addiction to us. The fact that humans can still survive without consuming or using animals, people can still be entertained with other things in life, so why use animals to fulfil our needs? We are continuously driven on our addiction to use
