Ethos is the appeal to ethics. In some literary nonfiction in this unit ethos was used. An autobiography is a written story on someone's life, ethos is used in these to appeal to the moments in each persons life that are unethical or ethical. In "The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass" he talks about being a slave as well as other moments in his life that affected him greatly, like his mistress turning cold and stone hearted. This appeals to people's perception of ethics, or ethos. A memoir is a written account of one or two impactful moments in one's life, ethos is used in this to appeal to people's understanding of how moments can change ones life greatly.
