The point of view used in the story “A Worn Path” by Eudora Welty is the third person limited. The third person point of view allows the author to take up a god-like role where he knows everything that is going on in the story. In the story, we are able to see into the inner thought of the character Phoenix Jackson, her emotion as well as the surroundings as she walks along the path. We can see her talking to herself with words such as “Something always take a hold of me on this hill—pleads I should stay." The readers can also see her daydreams where as she is sitting down to rest, she sees a little boy bringing her a plate with a slice of marble cake but one she tries to receive it, it was just her own hand in the air (Welty, 1941. p.22).
