My friends, my fellow countrymen, my Romans! We are gathered today to choose a new leader for you! I am Marc Antony, best friend of the noblest man to live, Julius Caesar. Rome is in need of a new Consul. I am here today to be that person, to give you all someone to rely on, to give you someone who has your best interests at heart. I am not saying this person is me, for I will leave that decision up to you. But with me being the most trusted brother of Caesar, my unwavering loyalty, and the deficiency of the other honourable candidates, I believe you all should vote me, Marc Antony, as your new leader of Rome.
Never fear about not having a strong, independent, sophisticated leader like my great Caesar. I plan to govern in Caesar’s legacy. Why suddenly spill the blood of the man who held you as a brother? Well, my friends, Brutus’s answer was unquestionably clear: ambition. Our honorable Brutus, left Caesar’s blood to flow throughout the streets of Rome and, in turn, speared Rome in the back, leaving us open to vulnerability, fear, and chaos. Our righteous Brutus can give no more of a reason to the murder of his brother, our Caesar, than ambition. Tell me, friends, is Brutus the leader to answer your all of your questions and concerns about Rome? Honor is why Brutus fights for the republic. Honor is why Brutus beats ambition . Honor is why Brutus pierces the last dagger in Caesar’s back. Tell me, friends, who would you rather have as a leader: a loyal man, who wants nothing but the best for his people, or an honourable man? We must believe in Brutus’s honor. Yes, I suppose the definition of honor must mean killing your own best friend. Well, my Romans, I don’t believe I am the honourable man to pick in this
