Evan Penny's Hyperrealism In The Works Of An Artist

The three highly skilled and talented artists; Evan Penny, Duane Hanson,and Ron Mueck all show hyperrealism in their artworks, however each artist shows how to handle hyperrealism in a different way. In Evan Penny’s case, he uses a human model to a great extent as a reference when he is in the process of making his figures. In addition, he records information of all the different physical features from the human model that he observes using clay. Furthermore, Penny creates different kinds of of folds, pleats and creases in the clay in order to show all the areas of the blood vessels, loose, heftiness and lines in the body. Another example is Duane Hanson. In his early years, Hanson made human sized molds using a synthetic resin that was from actual living humans. When technology later advanced, he used prosthetics to make the molds. In Ron Mueck’s case , he used a live model, photographs and drawings from books to handle hyper realism through his sculptures. …show more content…
Evan Penny had a main goal when making his figures. Firstly, he tried to achieve a theme of gender issues portraying in his artworks. He wanted his audience to recognize re-define the meaning of other gender and sexual identities. Secondly, Duane Hanson has a goal when making his hyperrealistic sculptures firstly was to have movement. For example, most of the figures that he made were doing activities such as and female figure handling an infant stroller As a result his sculptures are very active.
