I feel like throughout the feedback my instructor challenged my thinking and looked from a different perspective. This benefitted my learning and critical thinking skills by pushing myself to think outside of my own comfort zone. For example, in my ‘Whom do I Bring to Practice?’ paper my instructor left a comment regarding my assumptions. She questioned how I could monitor my own assumptions without affecting my patient. This is a great point that I have thought about a lot. It made me realize that anything I do or say to my patient will affect his or her experience and the nurse client relationship. Again, my instructor formed various questions I could ask my client when I am unable to build a therapeutic relationship. Having access to these simple phrases will assist me in communicating effectively with my client’s. …show more content…
For example, in my video debrief A sheet my instructor noted that my group should not be giving out opinions or suggestions to our client. I was overwhelmed with the amount of questions that my instructor included in her notes. I feel like this is because I am not as experienced or confident in my nursing practice with the challenging scenarios that were given. While reading these questions, I felt like I did not meet the criteria and I should have known to ask the questions my instructor listed. This was a learning curve for me by allowing me to broaden my perspective on my questioning techniques. Throughout each of my papers my instructor also made positive comments or statements such as “great!”. I find this particularly helpful in distinguishing what parts of my essay were well formed or needed more work. It also made me realize that my instructor took the time to read each and every sentence I wrote and took the time to make sense of it all. I appreciate this due to the length of time and effort each assignment
