In the speech by Dr Motsoko Pheko, “Effects Of Colonialism On Africa’s Past And Present”, Pheko believes that the colonization of africa has been torn away from its past, and was propelled into a future fashioned from outside. Pheko uses logos to advance his view of colonialism. For example, Pheko states that “Africa had suffered from the worst holocaust and genocide at the hands of the architects of slavery and colonialism.” This example of logos demonstrates that if the colonialist didn’t colonize Africa then there wouldn’t have been any slavery or holocaust nor genocide. The use of the word “colonize” appeals to logic by stating facts about what had happened to Africa and how it has changed.
