The first example of the Utilitarianism theory is a personal experience is for Christmas I only have 200 dollars to spend on Christmas gifts, I need to buy gifts for 6 people and as I'm out shopping I see a beautiful purse in the window that is 200 dollars. Two things I can either buy the purse or I can divide the money up and get everyone a Christmas gift. For the Utilitarianism theory, I would choose to split up the money and get all 6 people a Christmas gift that way it makes everyone happy and excited about their gift to open on Christmas morning.

The second example of the utilitarianism theory through a historical event of the sinking of the ship Titanic one story that shows utilitarianism is the story of Titanic's drunk chief, named Chief Baker, Charles Roughen, of Liverpool, who behaved with amazing heroism through Titanic's final hours. Roughen did anything and everything he could to help people that night, he helped women into lifeboats and threw 50 deckchairs into the ocean, for people to crawl onto to get out the water. But I know we've got the district manager coming to visit today and it is a holiday weekend, so we are going to be beyond busy.
