“Man is the only creature that consumes without producing. He does not give milk, he does not lay eggs…Yet he is the lord of all the animals. He sets them to work, he gives back to them the bare minimum that will prevent them from starving, and the rest he keeps for himself.” (Orwell 7). This quote was spoken by the Old Major, one of the pigs on the Manor Farm, and it signifies the start of a rebellion. The owner, Mr. Jones, was a man who was often drunk and didn’t treat his animals with much respect. After considerable mistreating, the animals had enough, and they succeeded in kicking Jones off the farm. All of the allusions, the shortness of the read, and the fictional aspect is why I really enjoyed reading the book, Animal Farm, by George Orwell. …show more content…
The main character of allusion is Napoleon. He is one of two pigs that turned out as leaders after the rebellion. One quote that shows his leadership style is, “No one believes more firmly than Comrade Napoleon that all animals are equal. He would be only too happy to let you make your decisions for yourselves. But something you might make the wrong decisions, comrades, and then where should we be?” (Orwell 47-48). After Old Major, the pig, passed away, Napoleon and another one of the pigs named Snowball carried out their rebellion along with the rest of the animals on the farm. After they succeeded in the rebellion, each of the pigs got half of the power. Napoleon then ran Snowball off the farm, transferring all of the power to him. Even though Napoleon got all of the leadership power, he still struggles to keep it, making him just like Joseph Stalin. Stalin won his struggle for power after Vladimir Lenin died.
