Betrayal is the action of betraying one's country, a group, or a person also known as a treachery. Betrayal is found everywhere and anywhere. Life is full of it. Hamlet is full of betrayal. Betrayal of family members and friends. Throughout the play, Hamlet, Hamlet experiences a whole bunch of betrayals including Gertrude, Claudius, Ophelia, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. This is how each betrayal unfolds.
First starting off where it all started, the beginning. The play opens. Hamlet and his mother are very close until his father’s death. His mother, Gertrude, runs off to get married to Hamlet’s uncle, Claudius, two months after King Hamlet’s death. Hamlet felt betrayal because he was wondering to himself “Does my mother have anything to do with my father’s death since she married so quickly after his death?” Than Gertrude and Hamlet’s relationship fell apart. He couldn’t trust her anymore.

His feelings went from love to hate. He was truly in love with her no matter what anyone else said. Then Ophelia’s family ruins it all. It all came crashing down. Polonius made Ophelia break up with Hamlet. Laertes also assisted in the break up because he told her even though Hamlet loves her he might not be able to later down the road. He explains to her that even though Hamlet and her are in love, Hamlet may be promised to someone else. It was heartbreaking. Two lovers giving up even though they don’t know what will actually happen. It’s a tragedy. Family ruining it. Family always ruin everything. Hamlet suffering with all his pain and sorrow is unpredictable. He is wonderful towards Ophelia and then horribly rude. How is he suppose to function in his state of
