In the passage Bertha is being described and there are multiple references to something inhumane or a wild animal, at this point we know that she is insane so this description is almost a form of abuse by the author. Bertha is being completely dehumanized by the author for seemingly no reason other than being mentally ill and from outside Europe, which can be seen as a clear sign of Eurocentrism in the text.
