In “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the author opens up this passage with Daisy and Gatsby meeting for the first time in “five years next November”. Gatsby reflects on all the pastimes with Daisy and all the history they have together which gives the reader a nostalgic feeling. As shown in the book, just because two people have history with each other doesn’t mean they will still feel as comfortable as they did five years ago.
