Hero or Villain?

John Proctor did a few things wrong in the Crucible, But that does not mean that he isn't a hero. Proctor has an affair with abigail williams who used to work for John and his wife Elizabeth proctor until she was kicked out of the house soon after Elizabeth finds out. As crazy as this may seem, this has something to do with Proctors heroism later on in the story. Proctor is a highly respected man, but after he makes the one mistake he starts to get questioned in the court. Reverend Hale asked john to prove his knowledge of the religion by repeating the ten commandments. Of Course Proctor misses the seventh sin! You will never guess what this seventh sin was ,“ Thou shalt not commit adultery.” Things are starting to look really ugly for john, but we will see what happens next.

during Mary Warren's testimony, she tried to say that abigail was a fraud but she wouldn't give any further details. The court did not seem to care, without further information. Then Proctor Yells out “She is a whore, Abigail williams is a whore!” it is then too late to take it back. He confessed that he had “known” abigail at one point in time. Proctor is then arrested and accused of practicing witchcraft as well. They called in and asked Elizabeth Proctor questions about John. They asked her why she had kicked abigail out. Elizabeth proceeded to tell them that her husband had seemed to “turn from her”, but she makes sure she doesn't say too much , in fear of condemning her husband. Little does she know that John had already confessed to committing this crime. Elizabeth is then sent off to prison, and John feels
