Through Nick’s honesty, tolerance, and modesty, we discover that everything in the world is not as it seems. Nick Carraway arrives in New York to the allure of money in the bond business. While settling in, he meets Gatsby, a mysterious wealthy man who longs to be with Nick’s cousin, Daisy. In The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald portrays Nick as a simple, liberal man who lives day by day and does not enjoy flaunting his money and power. One of Nick’s greatest traits are his honesty with other people. For example, several times throughout the book, we see that Nick is trusted with personal secrets of others, despite his strong moral upbringing.
