Hope in the 1930’s
Desmond Tutu, a South African leader, once said, “Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness” (Brainy quotes). Even in the darkness there is still hope. In the 1930’s people had trouble finding the hope. During the 1930’s, it became difficult to excite people but hopping for new ideas like art, science, and technology made it better. To begin, the arts helped people in the 1930’s to come out of their shells and to create something new like music, art, and theater. First in the 1930’s, music helped people to express their feelings in a song or poem. During the 1930’s a new style of music came about called jazz. In this kind of music styles were combined to form a type of swing music as a result …show more content…
Next, the art in the 1930’also brought boredom to the house and gave people the chance to create. The arts and crafts programs rose and in the 1930s and woman wanting jobs became popular. During this time a new kind of art came out along with a new generation of people wanting to step out with something different, the 1930s became a quit active time for the brain and for the future artists (Mankiller). The government helped with the arts programs in the 1930 once it became popular. Once the arts started to be recognized the government enacted special programs for woman, “Federally funded arts programs such as the Federal Arts Project and Works Progress Administration had strict equal opportunity in hiring standards so woman artists were fairly represented” (Mankiller). The arts helped woman receive jobs and have an equal opportunity for jobs. During the 1930’s hope had become unheard of for the people, they looked to the beauty of the arts to help the recover. First, in the 1930’s the journey to space became unimaginable. Going into space seemed unimaginable but the discovery of different planets became more widespread. When the discovery of new plants like Neptune then this mysterious plant that Feinstein talks about, “Careful mathematical calculators of orbit of the planet Neptune led astronomers to believe that Neptune began to be influenced by a gravitational pull of another planet farther away from the sun”(Feinstein 53). A new planet discovered, with the name Pluto. Feinstein says that the new planet crosses the path if the other plants making it part of the orbit a new planet was discovered named after the god of the underworld (Feinstein 53). The discovery of the planet Pluto caused major confusion. The discovery of Pluto gave people hope because they thought they would find more planets. Next, Transportation had big achievements by now allowing people to travel less time to their destination. In the 1930’s the transportation industry created a new type a blimp. The Hindenburg gave people the hope for a new way of flying like Feinstein says a brand new invention called the zeplin created by court Ferdinand became popular (Feinstein 56).
