Internal Religious Conflict As practiced for many years, the ideals and beliefs of a certain religion are to be followed and believed in wholeheartedly, however there are people who may come across a time in their lives in which they doubt these beliefs and ideals. The Elizabethan Era was a time in history where many people had to act accordingly in the eyes of society, but tended to like certain things that weren’t positively viewed by their social classes. William Shakespeare was an author of various tragedy, comedy, and real life ending plays during the 15th and 16th Century. One of his most popular works, Hamlet, is a playstory about the betrayal and loss within a family and the destruction it can cause for those around them. The play revolves around Hamlet, the prince of Denmark, his mother, Queen Gertrude and step-father King Claudius. Throughout the play, Hamlet showed his internal conflict regarding the avenging of his father, King Hamlet’s death, and his uncertainty about the consequences of the afterlife, specifically revolving around the questionable matter if sins can be atoned for or not.
