Justice and judgement is a very strong theme in the book To Kill A Mockingbird. It gets a lot stronger throughout the book by having the author use literary elements in the novel to highlight the themes in the book. The term also enforces the characters coming of age in the novel. “...white people wouldn’t have anything to do with her because she lived among pigs.” (Lee 256) This is showing how the literal element imagery implies that the theme of To Kill A Mockingbird is Justice and Judgement. Imagery is also showing the characters coming of age. The quote is showing that Mayella is living with bad people but the text makes it visual while showing judgement along with showing Mayella’s coming of age. Those are the two literal elements that are showing that the theme is Justice and judgement and shows the characters coming of age.

That is how the author of To Kill A Mockingbird uses characterization and imagery to show that the theme in the novel is Justice and judgement. The theme Justice and judgement is still shown in today’s society as well. This shows that Justice and judgement is strong in the past and it’s strong in the present, this may even show that this theme could be strong in the future
