John Proctor was of noble stature in the town of Salem, and a tragic hero. His reputation is an example of noble stature the more he is involved in the witchcraft trials the more his reputation declines. A quote from The Crucible “Proctor, respected and even feared in Salem”(1.144). This quote shows how he went from being an extremely well-respected man and even feared, and to having lost his position, and proves his noble stature one of the tragic hero characteristics. This proves his noble stature, from The Crucible by Arthur Miller, which is a characteristic of tragic hero just like his tragic flaw.
